Nearly 250 people from Kerrville and the surrounding area attended the Kerrville 2050 Comprehensive Plan Open Houses on February 5th and 6th at the Dietert Center. They were there to gather information and contribute their thoughts on a number of important issues relative to the plan being developed.
The Open House included an opportunity to visit several information stations (Project Background, Economic Development, Infrastructure/Mobility/Public Facilities, Quality of Life/River/Parks, Downtown) that compared the implications of three different land use scenarios for the future of Kerrville (Alternative Scenarios). Participants were asked to select the scenario that best reflected their vision for the future of Kerrville at each of the stations. The evening included a presentation describing the planning process, progress to date and the steps still to come. This important input will be evaluated in the development of a preferred draft plan that will be refined in the coming months with the help of the Comprehensive Plan Steering Committee and Subcommittees.
This work is leading up to a final draft plan, which will be presented to the Planning & Zoning Commission and City Council in June of this year for adoption. From the onset, the goal of this effort has been to create a plan that is a reflection of the community’s vision for the future, not the vision of staff or the consultants. Follow along by visiting this site periodically to check for project updates.
